Purpose
Purpose and Purposes
We have a purpose statement that helps us measure how we are doing as a church. It is as follows:
To bring people to Jesus
and membership in His family,
develop them to Christ like maturity,
and equip them for their ministry
in the church and their life mission
in the world in order to magnify
God's name
We have this displayed on the wall of our church hall to remind us of our purpose as a church. This purpose statement can be broken down into five purposes:
Worship – Magnification:
Worship is central to everything. Our aim must be that we magnify God in all that we do in the power of His Spirit.
Fellowship – Membership:
Fellowship with one another helps to create an environment of pastoral love and support. As members of the body we seek to be a caring community
Evangelism – Mission:
Evangelism is the call to ‘Go into the world with the gospel’. Our mission is to reach into our community and world with the message of God’s love.
Discipleship – Maturity
Discipleship is about growing people on their journey as Christians. We want to teach and train people so that they grow in maturity in their faith.
Ministry – Service:
Ministry is essential if the church is going to fulfil its mandate. We want to help everyone find their place so that they can use their gifts and talents to make a difference.
All this is summarised in our vision statement:
Desire for his presence
Driven by his purpose
Demonstrating his power
