DC3 | Diss & Harleston Church

We want our young adults to fulfil their God-given mandate.  They are encouraged to lead, serve and take responsibility in some way and once over 18, can join an adult small group.  They can also choose to be discipled through our specifically designed Tailor Made programme.

Tailor Made is a year-long mentoring and discipleship course for 16 - 18 year olds devised by our church leader Graham Blake.  The overall aim is to help our young adults develop their....

• Character - through mentoring and discipleship
• Biblical Foundation - through teaching and equipping
• Ministry - through opportunities to experience different areas of serving
• Mission - through a trip abroad
• Ability - through discovery and opportunity

Required Commitment for Tailor Made Year 1 
Each participant must have already taken their GCSEs.  They (and their parents, if they are under 18) also need to sign an application form, which is submitted to the Leadership for interview and approval.  This confirms that they understand that....   

• During the Tailor Made year they are mentored by a member of DC3
• There are 10 teaching sessions, one residential weekend and two full Saturdays to attend
• They are asked to serve the church in some way
• The year may include a weekend of serving in another church
• They will have the opportunity to be part of a summer mission trip

Tailor Made 'deeper'
Tailor Made 'deeper' is a further year of development for those young people that have completed a first year of Tailor Made or for the adults in the church.  There are only 10 places available on this course each year which we will start in January 2011.  The objectives are similar to the Tailor made year 1 objectives but allow young people and adults alike the chance to go 'deeper' in to God.

• Character Development - through mentoring, discipleship and accountability
• Biblical Foundation Development - through deeper biblical study by students
• Learning to Lead - through taking responsibilty in serving
• Missional Development - through a missional challenge

and above all discovering, exploring and practising your Tailor Made calling for God.

Required Commitment for Tailor Made 'deeper'

Each participant for 'deeper' will need to sign an application form, which is submitted to the Leadership for interview and approval.  This confirms that they understand that....

• During the Tailor Made year they are mentored by a member of DC3 
• There are two compulsory morning sessions to attend, an afternoon and evening session and further optional meetings with a tutor
• There will be an essay to write and two further teaching sessions to attend from a choice of subjects
• They are asked to take on an area of responsibility
• As a group they will have to build and complete a Mission Challenge of their own design, within the guidelines laid down by DC3
